Hedendaags Nieuw-West: Bouwen langs de ring

In the beginning, there was the Ring, and the Ring separated New Year from New. At least that's how it sometimes seems: the A10 Ring Road sits so naturally in the Amsterdammer's head that it's like it's always been there. During this bike ride, we discover what the original idea behind the ring was, how it became from city street to barrier, and how we are now trying to break that barrier again. And how do you not only build a new urban district, but also a new community? How do you deal with diversity? Can you enforce social cohesion with a smart design for your city? We cycle from north to south along the ring, and see how each era comes up with its own answers to these questions. From caring child to superdiverse, from city villa to office colossus, from breeding ground to gig flat, from shrinking park to rising road surface, we'll find it all on this trip from Slotermeer to Staalmanplein.
Please note: You need your own bike for the bike ride.
