Residency tour: Sophia Alami, Mehdi Ouahmane, and Driss Ouaamar

Last month, three artists from Morocco — 2025 Seed Award winner Sophia Alami, 2024 Seed Award winner Driss Ouaamar, and 2021 Seed Award winner Mehdi Ouahmane — stayed in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. Nieuw-West is a district defined by its bicultural communities, with many residents having roots in Morocco and living lives that span both here and there. Each residency is content-driven and closely connected to the context of the neighborhood: shaped by the artist's practice as well as by the organization and community with whom they collaborate.
The residency was made possible by the Prince Claus Fund to strengthen cultural exchange between the Netherlands and Morocco.
During their residencies, the artists were paired with cultural partners deeply rooted in the neighborhood and Nieuw-West: Sophia Alami joined the Van Eesteren Museum, Driss Ouaamar was paired with Stichting The Bookstore, and Mehdi Ouahmane was in residence at Buurtwerkplaats Noorderhof.
For this final presentation, we invite you to cycle along to the three participating locations, where the artists will share their process and we will conclude the residencies together with a drink.
Participation is free, but we do appreciate a RSVP with the button below.
