The Van Eesteren Museum invites you to the festive opening of The Women of Liga Nieuw Beelden

In this exhibition, we highlight the work and lives of nine female artists, designers, and architects from Liga Nieuw Beelden. When discussing this movement, you often hear names like Constant, André Volten, or Carel Visser. That is a pity, as many women were also active in this movement. Why are Ans Wortel, Yvonne Kracht, Nono Reinhold, or Sia Bakema rarely mentioned?

The Women of Liga Nieuw Beelden identifies these artists and puts them in the spotlight. In doing so, the exhibition is also an invitation to take a fresh look at how art history is written. Who gets a place in the dominant narrative? Which names stick, and which fade into the background? And how much talent and influence remains hidden in archives, collections, and family histories?

Work by Sia Bakema, Lotti van der Gaag, Luzia Hartsuyker-Curjel, Frieda Hunziker, Yvonne Kracht, Cora Nicolaï-Chaillet, Nono Reinhold, Mary Schoonheyt, and Ans Wortel will be on display.
